FIU is an integral part of the State University System of Florida, earning recognition for its research prowess and commitment to academic excellence.

As a testament to its research endeavors, FIU holds the coveted classification among the Carnegie “R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity” institutions.

Across all national universities, public and private, FIU holds the 151st spot. The university’s commitment to innovation is underscored by its impressive 34th ranking for the most innovative university in the United States for 2022. This accolade reflects FIU’s pioneering strides in curriculum development, campus life enhancements, technology integration, and facilities improvement.

Moreover, FIU is celebrated as the 99th best university in the United States for Veterans in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 rankings. This distinction highlights FIU’s active participation in federal initiatives dedicated to supporting veterans and active-duty service members in their pursuit of higher education.
