Tamoil Kenya Limited Renames to Libya Oil Kenya Limited

NAIROBI, KENYA – AUGUST 18, 2007 – Leading petroleum distribution and marketing company, Tamoil Kenya Limited has today announced a change of name to Libya Oil Kenya Limited. The announcement follows a decision to this effect taken by shareholders of Tamoil Kenya Limited (formerly Mobil Oil Kenya Limited). The entity and business of Tamoil Kenya Limited will continue normally, and all contractual and commercial terms and business procedures of the Company remain valid under the name, Libya Oil Kenya Limited.

Libya Oil Kenya Limited is the local subsidiary of Tamoil Africa Holdings Limited (TAHL). TAHL group is fully owned by the government of Libya through the Libyan-African Investment Portfolio (LAP), a government agency set up in 2006 to spearhead a five Billion US Dollar (US$5B) investment plan in Africa. LAP has vast investment interest across all industries including: Communication, Hotel, Energy, Textile and Real Estate.

TAHL made its debut in the petroleum distribution and marketing business in Kenya in December 2006 after signing an agreement with ExxonMobil Corporation. According to the terms of the agreement, TAHL acquired the Mobil Oil Kenya Limited business and all its assets across the country, including the entire network of 64 retail service stations, its Aviation business, Terminals at Mombasa and Nairobi, a Blending plant for lubricants in Mombasa and fuel depots in Nakuru, Eldoret and Kisumu.

The TAHL group has vast interests in the energy industry in Africa. The group operates more than 500 retail service stations in 16 countries in Africa – including downstream businesses in six countries, which it recently acquired from ExxonMobil following a decision by the later to divest from various countries in Africa.
